Engelsk — norsk / English — Norwegian blogging

by

[English below]

If you were wondering why some of the content of this blog was in English, some in Norwegian and some (hopefully most of it) in both….

The answer is: This blog is connected to my function as research librarian at NTNU Library, which is a Norwegian University library (the Norwegian University of Science and Technology Library); the majority of the people who read this ought therefore to be Norwegian and so it’s only fair that the content is in Norwegian. I, however, am English — not Norwegian, so I blog in English.

I am also a linguist and I had this idea in the back of my head that parallel texts in English and Norwegian might prove to be a good resource for people doing research on Norwegian as a second language and/or translation. This is why I’m not too careful about proofreading my Norwegian texts — I try to make them as understandable as possible, but I hope that they honestly reflect my (written) linguistic capability. I ought to be more careful with my English texts, I’m just not. Sorry.

Some texts don’t get tranlated for one reason or another; do get in touch if you want a blog text in both languages.

  1. Morten Says:

Black cloud was out hunting when he sam a Huge deer. He lifted his bow and shot an arrow at it. The arrow flew through the air and hit the animal. Black Cloud was happy, and so were his wife and children. They thanked nature for the good gift. Black Cloud’s daughter ate well that night.

PLISSSSSS translate to norwegian as fast as possible:)

Sry. This isn’t a translation service — I only translate the text from the blog.
